In Window XP or earlier version, if you wanted to re-partition the hard drive, you have to purchase PowerQuest Partition Magic or other expensive software to partition the hard disk. In Window Vista you don't need any special software for partitioning the hard disk. Just follow the following message:
- Right-click My Computer,
- Manage
- Disk Management.
- Right-click which volume you want to shrink
- Shrink Volume. (You can also extend volumes as well.)
- Type size of new partition,
- Click Shrink.
- After a few seconds, the process of partitioning will be completed, and you will have unallocated space.
- Right-click on it and select “New Simple Volume".
